About Revalued.ca
An independent, free Canadian guide to home value and borrowing against it, run by the MITEY network. We explain appraisals, assessments and automated valuations, test what a value unlocks, and track assessment-appeal rules in every province. We never estimate the value of a specific property.
What this site does
Your home has three values: the appraiser's, the assessor's and an algorithm's. Only one decides what you can borrow. The equity calculator shows what any value you bring would unlock under Canada's 80% refinance and 65% HELOC limits, how far an appraisal could fall before your plan fails, the penalty for breaking your mortgage and whether your income passes the stress test. Province guides cover assessment appeals from the assessors' and tribunals' own pages.
What we never do
We never estimate the value of a specific address, and we never publish anyone's address. Comparable sales you enter stay in your browser.
Who runs it
Revalued.ca is part of MITEY, a Canadian network of free financial calculators and plain-language guides. Mitey, the young yeti you see around the site, is our guide character: he points you to the next useful question, never to a product.
Editorial standards
- Primary sources. Lending limits from the Bank Act and OSFI; consumer rules from the FCAC; appraisal practice from the Appraisal Institute of Canada; assessment rules from each assessor, tribunal and city. Every page lists its sources and the date we checked them.
- Dated rules and a changelog on the methodology page, including corrections to common claims.
- Unknowns stated. Where an official page couldn't be confirmed, the province guide says so instead of guessing.
How the site is paid for
The site is free. If you ask through the contact form, a person from the MITEY network team will reply; that is the only way your details reach anyone. We don't sell leads and we don't receive what you type into the calculators.
